Drywall Sheets Count
Sheets = ⌈(Wall Area × (1 + Waste Factor)) / Sheet Area⌉Divides total waste-adjusted wall area by sheet size. 4x8 sheets are 32 sq ft, 4x10 sheets are 40 sq ft, and 4x12 sheets are 48 sq ft.
Drywall Screws
Screws = Sheets × 35Screws are spaced 12 inches apart on vertical studs, averaging roughly 35 screws per standard panel.
Joint Compound Mud

Frequently Asked Questions
Standard 4x8 panels are easiest to carry and install. However, using larger 4x10 or 4x12 sheets on high walls or ceilings reduces the number of horizontal joints, making taping and finishing much faster.
Use 1/2-inch drywall panels for standard interior walls, 5/8-inch panels for firewall barriers (garages or boiler rooms), and 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch sheets to double-up or cover curved structures.
Generally, you should use about 30 to 35 screws per standard 4x8 sheet. Space screws 12 inches apart along the edges and 16 inches apart along internal studs.
A good guideline is roughly 0.05 gallons (or 0.2 liters) of ready-mixed joint compound per square foot of drywall area, which covers three coats (taping, filling, and finishing).
Greenboard has a water-resistant face paper. It should be used in high-humidity areas (bathrooms or kitchens) to prevent mold growth, but it is not completely waterproof and should not be used inside direct shower stalls.
